WHAT IS A NOTARY?
In Ontario, a notary public is a person certified to witness signatures, administer oaths, sign affidavits and
certify documents to be true copies of the original. They have all the powers of a commissioner of oaths and
then some! To apply for a notary appointment in Ontario, you must be a registered
Ontario lawyer or paralegal.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
We need you to attend in person so we can witness your signature and ID you. Please bring your document
unsigned and a piece of unexpired government issued photo ID, ie:
- Driver’s Licence;
- Passport;
- Permanent Resident Card;
- Ontario Photo Card.
*While all of our notaries are licensed lawyers by the Law Society of Ontario, Notary Today does
not provide legal advice because we’re focused on providing a fast, niche service to our
clients.
